Favorite Parts of Being a Social Impact Marketing Manager at Discovery Education

Amira, a Social Impact Marketing Manager, finds the most fulfilling aspect of her career is witnessing "the tangible impact" of her work, citing examples such as sponsoring homeless families into stable housing and providing educational resources that empower students to develop solutions for a better world. This ability to directly see how initiatives improve lives, from simple acts like donating stuffed animals to hospital patients to larger programs fostering STEM skills and sustainability education, is what makes the role most rewarding.

What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?

For me, the enjoyment I get from any of the work I've done is actually being able to see the tangible impact or hear the stories about how the work I've done has made a difference in people's lives. A lot of the work involves building, ideation, and planning.

Even during the execution phase, you are always working on other projects. So you never really get to stop and see how that work is improving the lives of others until you take a moment to debrief. It's always great for me to hear from someone, or see them.

Whether it was in sports and they went to a baseball game for the first time and that made them want to start playing baseball. We had a program where we gave stuffed animals to children in the hospital, and that literally made their day. It's a simple donation, but it makes a huge difference.

Sponsoring a homeless family and being able to see them now have stable housing and thrive is rewarding. Those are things.

The programs I have done in tech involve having students learn about sustainability, coding, data analytics, and cybersecurity with different partners. Learning how to create something with their imagination and letting that guide them to find solutions to make a difference in the world are super key. These are probably the most fulfilling parts of my job.
