Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Please include any internships or jobs you had before your current role.
Sure. So college, I think the main thing I gained was decent critical thinking and analytical experience. This led me to become interested in becoming a CPA, for reasons I can't quite fathom now.
I then used some of my experience at UCSB to become a TA. This allowed me to teach accounting principles and classes, which led me to meet many people at various firms.
I ended up taking a job that wasn't necessarily suited to me, but it allowed me to develop analytical skills and learn the principles of data analysis. Those quantitative skills became the basis of most of my career.
I worked in finance for a bit, then in marketing, where I've been for over 25 years. Those quantitative skills are still the root of everything I do for clients.
