What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
I think there are a number of things that give people job satisfaction. Feeling like I make a difference and that people want to hear what I have to say are important.
On a day-to-day basis, working with the people around me is key. I love working with people who have a shared passion, drive, and goal.
When people are thinking in the same way, the energy that comes together to move forward and solve problems is really important. This applies whether it's in the military as a reserve officer or at the VA.
Ultimately, it comes down to the people. People stay in jobs because of the people they are surrounded with, and they leave jobs because they don't like those people. It's not necessarily the job itself.
So, trying to find a place that fits with your values, beliefs, and the culture you want to be a part of is probably the most important thing.
