What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?
I'll speak more broadly about the tech industry. Obviously, there are summer internship opportunities, which is something I did and definitely recommend.
As the industry changes, I've noticed there are fewer entry-level positions in big tech companies right now. Something that really helped me in my career was starting within startup environments.
Big tech companies like that kind of professional profile – people with startup experience. Because startup environments are extremely fast-paced and dynamic, you have to be the owner of what you're doing. Having that entrepreneurial spirit definitely helps within big tech.
So, even if you can't join a big tech company straightaway, having startup experience beforehand will enrich your experience and knowledge, preparing you for that next step to join a big tech company afterwards.
