Q2: Main responsibilities
My main responsibilities are admissions and recruitment. On the administrative side, I process and review applications with the admissions committees. I look for our program requirements and ensure students meet them.
I also make sure students are a good fit for the program and will be collaborative with each other. This generally ensures they are good fits overall.
The other part of my job is outreach and recruitment. In the fall semester, we travel domestically and internationally to college fairs. We provide students with information about what Canals is, what we do, and how our mission statement aligns with their career goals.
We also do local events, like attending golf tournaments for sponsorships. This helps with brand presence, even for people not currently looking to attend school. It's nice to have that visibility so people know, "If you do have any questions, we are more than happy to help." We can answer them, facilitate anything, or provide our contact information. This way, if someone is considering a master's degree in the future, they know who to reach out to.
