Transcript
Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Any internships or jobs you had before your current role?
I did my undergrad at the University of Arizona in Tucson, majoring in accounting, finance, and entrepreneurship. I also had a Spanish minor there.
While I was at Arizona, I completed a few different internships. At the beginning of college, I sold Cutco knives, and then a little bit during my first summer after freshman year.
After sophomore year, I interned at StepStone, a private equity monitoring and reporting company. They provide advisory services for institutional investors interested in private equity.
After my junior year, I interned at EY (Ernst & Young) in their San Diego office. I also worked at a tax accounting firm in Tucson during the school year and tutored student athletes in accounting, math, and Spanish.
All of this furthered my interest in business. I knew I could work in business, but I was unsure about the specific area of accounting that was right for me.
After senior year, I did another internship with EY, this time in audit. I worked in their Buenos Aires office in Argentina, which was quite interesting.
After that internship, I realized I didn't want to be an auditor, and accounting wasn't for me. I pivoted and applied for consulting jobs, which is how I found my current role.
I am a consultant at Boston Consulting Group (BCG). I got that job during the first couple months of my Master's of Accounting program at USC in LA. I was on the path to work as an accountant at the time, but I ended up switching to consulting.
I absolutely loved consulting. I worked at BCG for three years in their Los Angeles office, starting as an associate and then becoming a consultant.
