What skills are most important for a job like yours?
In sales, I'd say persistence and perseverance are key. When we talk about a good win rate, for example, closing one out of four opportunities, or 25%, that's solid. But that also means you've heard three "no"s.
You're going to get a lot of "no"s in sales, and you can't let them bring you down. There are always ebbs and flows. You get used to the "no" and move on to the next opportunity.
However, those "yes"es are that much sweeter. So, I would say those are the main skills: being persistent and professionally persistent. It's also a lot of hard work.
You can get creative and utilize the tools you have. I use my own platform, ZoomInfo, which is a great tool for my own prospecting, whether that's calling, emailing, or LinkedIn.
In terms of skills, it's having the desire and drive to wake up every day and be the best version of yourself. You feel a lot better at the end of the day when you put a lot into it and know you gave it your all.
This is better than clocking off early and knowing you had more to give. I sleep better at night knowing I gave everything I had, and I'll do it again the next day. That's why getting a "yes" is what drives you; it's your fuel for the next day.
