What are your main responsibilities within your current role as principal?

As principal, I'm basically the owner, chief strategist, and chief operations officer of my company. I run CEA Strategies as a virtual agency, using talent wherever it resides.

Whether we need graphic design or multimedia, I pick and choose partners for their talent. But as principal, I'm responsible for wearing three hats.

The first is new business development to secure clients in areas where we can be helpful and add value, addressing their challenges. So, first and foremost, it's new clients and new business development.

The second is chief strategist. That's the communication strategy I build and work with my partners to build. Every client needs a specific, tailored plan to meet their challenge.

The third hat is chief operations officer. This covers everything from billing the client to accounting, paying subcontractors or partners, and marketing the agency. Everything that goes with running a business under the chief operations officer hat is the third leg of the stool.

At any point during any day, I'm doing all three.
