What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?

My industry is strategic communications, engagement, and advocacy. That also includes public relations, reputation management, and crisis management. There's also a little bit of marketing involved.

What I love about it is twofold. One is the challenge that our clients present us. Clients usually come to our organizations, and typically hire consultants, when they don't have the right skillset in-house or they don't have the bandwidth.

So, we get some very interesting challenges to solve for our clients, whether they be new business development, crisis, or they have a reputation and branding issue. We get some very interesting assignments, so that part of my day is really fabulous.

The part that I love the most is having some intellectual challenges that we have to work through. The second part is the creative talent that helps me do that. I work with professionals who have long careers in crisis communications, graphic design, social media, website design, writing, and policy and advocacy.

Depending on the assignment, I choose from those particular professional talents. So, I get to work with a really broad spectrum of truly exceptional talent.
