What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?
Sure. Definitely analyst positions. If you see an FP&A analyst position open, or a supply chain analyst, or an IT analyst, whatever the different parts of the business unit, I would go for those right away.
Any analyst positions where you can dive in and get your hands dirty in SQL and the data, that's where I started. Once you start learning from your colleagues, working with them, and collaborating with everyone, you will find your niche.
You will definitely prove to be successful. It's just, you have to do that hard grunt work in analyst positions. But it is totally rewarding in the long run.
