What are your main responsibilities within your current role as production coordinator?
As the production coordinator, I essentially do producer work for the podcast. We also tour, and when we are on the road, I act as the liaison between the podcast host and the venues. This involves a lot of emailing back and forth with venues beforehand.
I confirm they have all our technological and backstage needs met. Once we arrive, I conduct sound checks and ensure everything is running smoothly. During the actual show, I manage the audio and visual elements.
I also coordinate with dancers and drum lines that perform before or after our show. I'm the point person between them and the venues, making sure their needs are taken care of. I do a lot of this while on tour.
When we're not touring, my day-to-day tasks include helping build outlines and emailing with guests. I also handle a lot of behind-the-scenes work for the host. Our podcast used to be one episode a week, but last month we launched a second episode.
This means I do more research into potential topics, which are very pop culture-based. I review headlines to find subjects the hosts can discuss. I also handle some social media responsibilities.
I post a lot of videos and design cover art, though I don't edit the videos themselves. Those are my primary jobs.
