What does a day in the life of your role look like?
Early on, I get on email almost immediately. I always try and prioritize it by checking for emails from the dean, either overnight or early morning. If there's anything that needs immediate attention, I handle that first.
Then, it's a matter of checking in with folks in the office. I ask if everything is okay and if anyone needs anything. I'm just making sure I'm not missing anything.
After that, I'll go into either long-term or short-term projects. Emails are important here at the school; we communicate a lot via email and Teams. I have to constantly keep up to speed on what's going on.
Part of my role is as a liaison to our Board of advisors. I have the responsibility of checking in with them, especially our board chair. I make sure she has everything she needs and answer any questions she might have. I'm kind of the go-to for those kinds of things.
So typically, my day involves a lot of emails. It involves a lot of checking in and walking around with people to make sure I'm not missing anything. Oftentimes, the dean will come to me with questions about particular projects. I like to have the answers because I like to be continually seen as the resource for that.
