What a Senior Digital Analytics Consultant at BlastX Consulting Wishes They Had Known Before Entering the Digital Analytics Industry

Early in Taylor's career as a Senior Consultant - Digital Analytics and Insights, the work was "exhausting" due to the need to handle "strategy, implementation, reports, and insights," all independently. What have you learned about this role that you wish someone would have told you before you entered the industry?

I'd definitely say there are so many niches and avenues you can go in this industry. When I first started, I was actually a one-person show. I was doing the strategy, implementation, reports, insights, and everything.

While that really did allow me to learn a lot fast and grow, the downside is it can be exhausting. What I learned when I moved was that you don't have to do it all by yourself. You don't have to do it all, and know everything.

It's good to know a little bit about everything, but you can specialize in one specific area. Doing that allows you to grow tall and wide. You specialize in one area but still know others, which lets you provide better value to your clients.

With deeper knowledge, you're able to concentrate on things. Then, you can lean on coworkers and others in the industry for support. This helps you grow more and provide even more value.

So, you can go into the strategy and reporting side, or the technical side, more towards a developer learning code, writing code, and data layer specs. You can also specialize more in A/B testing and optimization. Or, you can specialize in customer experience, which involves voice-of-customer surveys and qualitative data. There are many different niches and areas that will allow you to provide deeper value without getting overwhelmed or exhausted by everything that needs to be done.
