What is one lesson you have learned that has proven significant in your career?
Confidence is very important. It's also a hard skill to learn.
It's one of those soft skills that takes a lot of time and practice. I still struggle with confidence at times.
What I've found is that confidence will help you both internally and externally with your clients. Not everyone will know everything, and that's okay. You don't have to know the answer to absolutely everything.
It's okay to say, "Hey, let me get back to you," or "Let me check with my colleague who's more knowledgeable in that area." You can tell the client those things and still have confidence.
Ultimately, make sure you have some level of confidence, because that's going to show the client they can trust you. They hired you as a consultant because you have knowledge and expertise that they don't.
Trust that they hired you for a reason and show them. Prove to them that they hired you for a reason. Show them that confidence, and it's going to really help them trust you. It will also help you trust yourself. This will make things run more smoothly in the long run and feel less pressured to know everything.
