What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?
Every company has slightly different wording, but it's all centered around the same thing. There are elements of junior analyst or just analyst roles. Some might call it a junior consultant or similar language.
These roles allow you to start out and begin learning the tools and concepts, and to get a feel for the work. Some companies have internship programs. My company has a summer internship program that we've done a few times.
We bring on a few people who then go in rotation and learn different niches. They'll work with strategy and data analytics for a while. Then they'll move on to MarTech innovations, which is more of the technical side.
After that, they'll work with our digital experience optimization team. This rotation allows them to learn a little bit about each area. They can see where they might want to specialize and then begin honing their skills in that area.
Often, this will lead to a junior position and then a hire from there. At least, it gives you exposure to the different areas.
