Transcript

There are entry-level positions in this field that undergraduate college students may consider.

I think this is a great time for that, actually. Obviously, any kind of volunteer hours you want to do in a classroom, supporting with after-school tutoring or programming, anything where you can get your feet wet working with students.

A lot of times folks get into education because they love kids, but it's not just about loving kids. You also need to be able to manage them and hold them accountable.

On the flip side, there's also a lot of working with adults. Sometimes it's nice to kind of get in and see what it's actually like to do both of those things, to see if that's an industry or a role you'd really be interested in.

The reason I say it's a great time to get into that is, it has been hard to find folks to staff schools right now, both teachers as well as classified staff. But what's nice is that there has been a lot of money and grant opportunities for organizations to help build up folks within an organization.

So, if you came and worked at Scholarship Prep and were interested in getting your BA if you didn't have one, we'll help cover tuition costs for you to get your BA to be on a teacher pathway. Or if you come in and already have a BA but are interested in the teaching credential, we can help you get into an intern program so you can teach with us and work while getting your credential.

I think there are a lot of really cool opportunities for folks who want to work in schools, particularly as teachers, right now, both in terms of funding as well as opportunity.
