What does a day in the life of a medical assistant look like?

When I arrive at work, I usually get there around 8:15. Then I set up for the day. I open up all the exam rooms, make sure they're stocked, and that there's no contamination.

Next, I print out labs for any patients who are being seen that day, either virtually or in person, for any lab reviews. I also print out a list of all the medications each patient is on.

Patients usually start coming in around 9:00 AM. That's when I begin bringing patients back. When they arrive, I take their vitals and enter them into their chart.

Then, I let the provider know if the patient is ready. The provider will go in with the patient, and I'll either go in with them or not, depending on if they need assistance. If it's a male provider seeing a female patient, I usually always go in.

This typically continues until the end of the day, around 4:00 PM. In between each appointment, I clean the rooms and set them up for the next patient. At the end of the day, I clean all the rooms, make sure they're stocked again, and then close them down.
