What does a day in the life of a senior human resources manager look like?
A day in the life for a senior HR manager really all revolves around people. If you think of the life cycle of an employee, HR touches all aspects of that. It's truly never the same day, and there's not a lot of predicting what's going to come up.
However, on a regular cadence, we have responsibilities that are pretty typical. This includes payroll, recruiting, onboarding, employee benefits, and employee relations.
We also manage benefits negotiations at the end of the year when we're renewing our company-wide benefits. We do succession planning and coaching and development, which means developing career paths for employees.
A big part of what I do on a day-to-day basis is the employee relations function. I'm helping people get along and work to the best of their ability in their role, and learn how to move up into the next role.
