On the real estate side, you could always get an internship, paid or unpaid. You can shadow agents or do small tasks that they require. It's not as intellectually stimulating, but at least you get an idea of a day in the life of a realtor.
On the VC investing side, they often have research assistants. These assistants do a lot of the due diligence or networking to bring deals to the table and increase deal flow. There are definitely internships on the VC side that might be very interesting to graduate or undergraduate students.
