Favorite parts of being a Communications Consultant at Healthcare
Shelly's favorite aspects of her Senior Communications Consultant role include the flexibility of remote work, allowing for increased productivity, and the opportunity to "meet and interact with such a diverse group of amazing people." This interaction allows Shelly to leverage her skills to support teams in areas outside her expertise, such as patient safety and the patient experience, and learn from their "left brain" approaches to problem-solving.

What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
Honestly, I love working remotely. It's not for everyone, and 15 years ago, I never would've considered working from home. My children are grown and out of the house, so I don't have interruptions every five minutes. I believe I am now more productive than I would be in a traditional office setting.
The other thing I love is meeting new people. The teams that I support are so very different from me. They are, for the majority, left-brain kind of people, not creative, and they're not writers. That's why they need me.
It's great because I learn things I never would've learned about patient safety or the patient experience, things like that. I love that they need me to help them communicate effectively, and I love that I get to meet and interact with such a diverse group of amazing people.
