What do you enjoy most about being in the education industry?

Education is a wonderful field because there are so many different jobs and functions you can have within it. Initially, when people think about going into education, they just think about being a teacher.

Being a teacher is a wonderful career, but there are also other places you can be where you still make an impact. I like working in education because there's a term, I don't know who coined it, where people call it "heart work" instead of "hard work."

Essentially, you pour your heart and soul into it. It is incredibly difficult, but you also know you're making a significant impact. If we hire the right people, we make a positive impact on kids.

We are helping our San Jose site camps, which are fully scholarship-driven for low-income students in San Jose. We're helping them have three weeks of exceptional camp where they get to understand STEM education. This is often one of the subjects cut from schools because it's not primarily state-tested.

It's really fun to be in education, especially in a non-traditional sense. It's also fun to be in charge of who is ultimately in front of the kids. If you pick the right people, kids will have a great time.

However, it is high stakes. If you don't pick the right people, kids won't have a fun time. I'd like to think I have a pretty good barometer for who would do well in the education space.
