What entry-level positions in this field might an undergraduate college student consider?

There are many options if you want to get into recruitment. Recruitment internships, like the one I did at TFA, are a good starting point. Entry-level recruiter roles can have different titles across companies.

My first title at TFA was "recruitment manager," but that title is used for more senior positions at other companies. For example, Amazon calls their entry-level recruitment roles something different. They don't use "recruitment manager" for those roles.

Most of the time, entry-level recruitment positions are called "recruitment coordinators." In this role, you'll be scheduling interviews and hiring for entry-level positions like customer service representatives or data entry clerks.

Any entry-level HR role is transferable to recruitment. Roles like HR coordinator or HR generalist can lead into recruitment. Recruitment and sales are also closely related. In sales, you sell a product, and in recruitment, you sell a role.

I started in teaching and had internships. Teaching provided valuable skills, especially for recruiting within the education sector. It helps when you can relate to people in the industry.

The most basic entry-level position is a recruitment coordinator. However, you can be creative with it. If you want to be a recruiter in an industry you're passionate about, you can pivot into that role within the same industry.
