What is one lesson that you've learned that's proven significant for your career?
Even though I work with numbers, people are far more important. If I have accurate numbers but haven't cultivated relationships or instilled trust in the people I'm communicating with, the accuracy of my information won't matter.
People are critically important. Building relationships, building trust, understanding how you come across, asking for feedback, and truly listening are key. This helps you understand where someone is really coming from.
What they think they're trying to say versus what they're actually trying to say are not always the same. This can be really important when you're trying to understand your audience and communicate properly.
