What skills are most important for a job like yours?
For a job like mine, I think the most important things are continuous learning about technology and business experience. Technology is ever-evolving and changing, especially in today's AI world.
My clients seem to respect me and my team because we've done their jobs before, in some capacity, and we've worked in business. In my career, though I was very IT-focused, I've been an accounting manager, a controller, and a contract CFO.
This experience lets my clients know that I can do their job and understand enough about business to help them. These are things you can't really learn right out of school. It took me about eight to ten years to learn enough about business to start doing it for myself.
