What did you do in college to set you up for success in your career?
One of the things I did in college that set me up for success was to work. I worked in capacities that involved things I was not really familiar with, and I learned to really think outside the box and problem-solve in a work capacity.
This involved dealing with clients, employees, customers, managers, and bosses. I learned to understand the systems behind the business and how they worked. All that experience really prepared me to go out and do that for larger organizations.
Even though some of my positions may have seemed menial, looking back on them now, just doing that work and understanding that I had to adhere to the structure of someone else's rules helped me become more flexible. It helped me understand what it's like working in the real world.
