What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
In the role, it went from mostly recruiting, vetting candidates, performing onboarding and orientation, and culture integration. It evolved to providing and taking care of all aspects of HR.
This includes benefits administration, FMLA, tracking and compliance policies and procedures, and implementation. I ensure all company documents fall within the legal framework that HR requires, which has been elevated in my current role.
Prior to my joining, there wasn't another HR manager with certifications and credentials. They wanted someone who knew the legal "cans" and "can'ts" with regards to HR.
The legal framework companies must follow to function has really been elevated lately. I've loved taking that on and doing coaching, disciplinary actions, performing investigations, and holding people accountable.
That really excites me. I didn't get into HR for drama or office gossip. My main responsibility is to ensure the protection of employee rights.
I also aim to protect the organization from liabilities, whether from employee issues or policies that open companies to possible litigation. That's really where I excel.
