Favorite Parts of Being an HR Manager at Non-Profit Group Home Housing
Sharon, an HR Manager at a Non-Profit Group Home Housing, finds the most rewarding part of the role is the "ability to influence positive outcomes," and to be seen as a "strategic partner" within the organization, allowing HR to be valued beyond traditional administrative functions. The other aspect of the role that brings the most joy is spotting potential in individuals that others might overlook, empowering them, and "seeing them soar."

What do you enjoy most about being in your role?
I love the ability to influence. That is one thing that I have been really excited to see in the landscape and the workforce, with HR: our ability to really influence positive outcomes, not just for the employees and what they bring to the team, but also overall for the organization.
It is really exciting whenever other individuals at the organization see the value that Human Resources brings and invite you to the table to be a strategic partner within that organization. I do find that that is extremely gratifying, especially whenever you earn your place and are able to bring that value and then see it actually play out. That's really fun and rewarding.
I also love, it's kind of my weakness, but also a strength: being able to see the good in anybody. I love seeing the diamond in the rough when maybe others wouldn't necessarily see someone in that position. But then believing in them, putting into them, empowering them, investing in their personal growth, and then seeing them soar – there is absolutely no better feeling. I love doing that and believing in the people that others haven't, and then seeing them soar. It's really fun.
