What does a day in the life of an HR manager look like?

One thing I really love about HR functions is that they are multifaceted. Each day can be unique and bring its own challenges.

On the one hand, it can be very heavy on holding interviews and discussing potential candidates, and going through resumes and applications. With my assistant, the next day it could be heavy on orientations.

This involves bringing in three or four candidates into the organization, acclimating them to the culture, and providing them with the best tools and resources for them to succeed in their roles.

There can also be many meetings with finance to ensure they have everything they need, or ensuring that access to systems is granted to the right individuals and they are set up for their roles.

It can also be heavy on disciplinary functions, holding those meetings and allowing people to have their say. I believe in conducting investigations fairly, so that could take a good amount of time in a day.

This involves conducting investigations and doing my due diligence to ensure everyone's rights are protected. It can really be different day to day, which makes it cool for someone like me who has ADHD and can find it hard to retain interest.

It is a role that suits me well because every day is different.
