What Type Of Person Thrives In The Sales Industry, According To A Sales Development Representative At Everlaw

Sebastian believes that to thrive in the sales industry, especially in areas like tech or medical sales, one must be "well spoken" and work hard, but more importantly, must work "smart and hard" simultaneously because you will be selling to sophisticated professionals. The ability to balance intelligence and effort is key to success, as simply working hard without working smart "didn't work out for them."

How would you describe people who typically thrive in your industry?

People who thrive in the sales industry, from what I've noticed working here and at my last company, pretty much need two things: to be well-spoken and to work hard.

The people I've seen who have done the best work harder. There's also an element of needing to work smart and hard. If you can do both very well, then you'll do very, very well in sales in general.

I've seen people who worked really hard but didn't work smart, and that didn't work out for them. This is especially true if you want to get into tech sales or med sales, because you're selling to sophisticated people.

These individuals could be CTOs or doctors. They look at the details and will notice if you're making mistakes or not working smart. Being able to work smart and work hard is the best combination for success in sales.
