What skills are most important for a job like yours?

There are two skills that are probably the most important for this role. These are what I look for whenever I'm looking to hire a new team member.

First, you've got to be confident. You need to be able to talk to anyone because this job is done 90% on the phone. I am constantly talking on the phone.

If you're not comfortable talking consistently or if you want a quiet role, then it's just not for you. Unfortunately, there are roles in commercial real estate where you can sit behind a desk and work on spreadsheets, and you don't have to be as social. However, you can't be running operations if you aren't.

The second main function is organizational skills. You're bombarded by a million things a day that all have varying degrees of importance. If you're not extremely well organized, things will slip through the cracks.

I've seen it countless times where people have an unorganized email inbox. Multiple things come up that were immediate problems needing to be solved, and other problems that maybe had a week to be solved, suddenly got forgotten or left lying around. You miss out on that. These are small things that can lead to massive dollar amounts lost in this industry very quickly. If you're not extremely organized, it's not going to work out.
