What do you enjoy most about your current role?

Whether I was teaching or serving as a principal, what I've always loved most about my work is being with other people. As a principal, I especially loved being with the parents and my colleagues, like my assistant principals and other administrators. This is because that was really who I spent the bulk of my time with.

I think it's really important to find people that you enjoy working with and being around in education, because it's such a human field. Honestly, the same applies to teaching. When I hate teaching, it's because I'm not connecting with my kids. When I love teaching, it's because I'm connecting with my kids.

This year, I'm very blessed to have three classes that I just adore, so it's super easy and super fun. Of course, the work is always part of it, but it's made much easier when you enjoy the people you're working with.

Not to sound cheesy, but I like being able to say that I spend my time at work supporting other people in pursuing their own goals and achieving their own dreams. I really like to help other people gain clarity on what they want to achieve and see the steps to get there, and then support them in getting there. You can call it meaningful or having an impact, whatever you do, but I like that.
