What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?
What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?
For undergraduates who want to get into this field, the ground-floor opportunities are really in three key areas. One is around analysts, typically business majors on the financial analyst side. They're able to put together deal structures and do the analytics around that.
Area two is really around the engineering, the technical side. Having a project management or construction background is helpful to be able to execute on projects from that side.
And then third, there's that sales mentality, the biz dev side. We particularly see in the residential space a lot of ground-floor opportunities that are good for learning because you get to learn a lot with fast turn with customers.
But on the commercial side, it's the same thing. Being able to do sales, and sales and marketing are key in this space. Those are the three big ones I typically see.
