What does a day in the life as an investor relations for a fund look like?

I work completely remotely, so it's a lot of holding myself accountable for my day-to-day tasks. Someone taught me a long time ago to do your most tedious task first. If there's something that you're dreading and trying to put off, do it first, get it done, and then you can stay organized throughout your day and prioritize new tasks that come in.

Another organizational tip I learned is if something can take you less than three minutes, do it right away. If it takes longer than three minutes, finish what you're currently working on and then add it to your to-do list.

My normal day starts with waking up and doing my morning routine, about two hours before I begin my workday. Then, I immediately get on email and go through everything, checking for pending items. I use Notion to keep my to-do list organized.

I like Notion because I can use it anywhere, on the go. Excel, Word documents, or Outlook emails can only be accessed on your computer or specific files. This helps me stay organized, update all my tasks, and prioritize investor communications first.

This includes things like wire confirmations and account updates. After those are handled, I move on to other tasks. I look at our fund making, ensure capital calls came in, and that deadlines were met.

I also reach out to clients if necessary. I always check in with my boss multiple times throughout the day. It's important to keep your boss and colleagues updated when working remotely, as they don't always know when you finish a task or what you're working on.

Being overly communicative has been very helpful. If you miss something, they might think you forgot about it or don't know if it's being worked on. So, I always over-communicate throughout my day, updating my tasks and my team members as I get through things.
