This one is less technical and more personal. It's about learning to take care of yourself psychologically, and I learned it the hard way.
It can be difficult, especially when you're first starting in your career. Any career can be stressful and challenging at times, but software engineering can be particularly so.
You really have to learn to know yourself and take care of yourself. Know when you need a break, when you need to take some time off, or a couple of days of PTO.
Make sure you're exercising and taking care of yourself physically, as well as mentally. Do fun things, get out in nature, go hiking, meditate – those types of activities.
You have to take care of yourself; it's super important. It's something you don't really learn in school, but you have to learn it. Otherwise, you might learn it the hard way, like I did. I'd rather you learn from my experience rather than going through it yourself.
