What do you enjoy most about being in your role?
Software engineering is pretty cool because it offers a lot of flexibility with scheduling. In past roles, like working in restaurants or as a sales associate, I had to be there at 9:00 AM sharp and adhere to strict clock-in, clock-out, and lunch times.
It's not like that here. As long as you don't have meetings, you can kind of show up and leave when you want. Your managers aren't going to be on you all the time, as long as you're getting your work done, which is really nice.
The pay and benefits in this role are also pretty nice. There's a reason for that: it can be tough, hard, and stressful at times, but that's why you get compensated well. So that's another benefit.
There are also a ton of opportunities to learn and grow in this industry and this role. You constantly have to learn and grow to stay relevant. If you like learning, growing, and constantly evolving, then this is a great role for that.
