How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?
Individuals who thrive in the power industry, particularly in real-time operations or support, are extremely diligent and good at getting the job done. They are confident in themselves and their decisions, but can also work effectively in a group environment.
This is especially true for those in control rooms or control centers who operate equipment and solve real-time operating problems. You must be able to work well with your peers, as you are not the only person in the control room. You collaborate with other engineers or operators to solve power system problems and maintain reliable operations.
Confidence in yourself, especially as an engineer, tends to come naturally. However, as engineers, we need to embrace our social skills to work well with others, particularly in real-time operating positions.
