What does a day in the life of an onboarding trainer look like?
There are really two days in the life that I go through. The first is when I'm training, and the second is when I'm not training.
When I'm training, I arrive at the office about an hour before my training starts to do any preparation ahead of time. Then I'll be doing live training in front of an audience, anywhere from 10 to 70 people. Depending on the day, that can go anywhere from three hours to five hours in front of the class.
After that, I send out any resources or materials to recap the day and do anything I need to for the next day's prep.
When I'm not training, it will be a lot of backend stuff. I'll be doing content updates. Salesforce has a lot of innovation and new products launching all the time, so I make sure our onboarding content reflects those changes.
I'll be doing meetings with stakeholders to understand what the sales team's gaps are, what they need more training on, and how we can incorporate that into onboarding. I also focus on personal development, thinking about what I can do to uplevel my skills around training delivery, my sales knowledge, and my knowledge of the software industry as a whole.
So, that would be the two types of days in the life that I would have.
