What does a day in the life of a firmware manager look like?
My day is very much surrounded by a lot of interactions on Slack, which is our instant messenger. A lot of emails also come in.
I spend a lot of time looking at planning and schedules. We have an issue tracking system where I do all of that. I spend a couple hours a day at least looking at that, figuring out priorities.
I also figure out what the team is working on now and what needs to be worked on. I adjust what people are actively working on a day-to-day basis.
The other big component that happens pretty often is dealing with personnel. It's not necessarily issues or challenges, but dealing with things that come up in everybody's lives.
Some of it can be work-related, and some of it can be personal. These things come up and need to be dealt with periodically. Maybe not every day, but definitely a few times a week.
