Q13: How did identity impact your career?
As an athlete turned lawyer, I believe the spirit of overcoming adversity, of being challenged, responding to that challenge, and winning, carries 100% into what I do as a litigator. There are times when I'm tired and want to quit.
As an athlete, you can't quit; you have to keep going. People rely on you, you have teammates. My teammates in the field of law are my clients and my co-counsel.
People rely on me, and this is not insignificant. People have businesses and companies, and they employ people who all rely on me to get it right and to keep their jobs.
That spirit of never quitting, of keeping working the issue, of moving forward and figuring out how to win, is huge for me. It defines my personality.
