Q7: Favorite parts - industry
What I enjoy most about being in my industry is being able to work with very intelligent people. Especially in my firm, Fisher Phillips, we hire good people who are nice to work with, and we closely guard the culture at our firm. I really enjoy working with the attorneys and the support staff there.
I also enjoy the fact that my firm allows me to engage in other public service initiatives outside the scope of just litigating employment cases. For example, they support my board service on several boards and commissions designed to advance the law.
This includes service on a board the Supreme Court appointed me to, looking at reforming the state bar exam. I'm also on the Council on Access and Fairness, which is designed to promote diversity in the legal field. The goal is to see if our attorney population mirrors the demographics of the state of California.
As chair of that council, my role was to come up with ideas and execute them to help bridge and close that gap.
