I would say the most important skill, outside of the technical knowledge that you need, would be relationship building. Because as a consultant, that's what you're managing in your day-to-day role.

You're constantly having to work with clients, building and engaging in new relationships. You need to ensure that you're not just going in and doing the technical work, but also conveying the message to the right people in the right way. This means customizing how you present your findings based on what's important to your audience.

Relationship building is also important internally within the firm, as it's such a large organization. It's not enough to just focus on your own work. You have a responsibility to network and get to know the people you're working with. This allows you to tap into their knowledge and resources to bring to your clients, rather than just relying on your own expertise.

Through relationship building, you're able to accomplish all of that. Obviously, having the knowledge of supply chain management and its intricacies is also important. You need to be able to do the analysis necessary to solve the problems before you.
