I think you need a lot of perseverance. Oftentimes, with papers, you'll get a lot of rejection. You have to be able to get back on the horse and submit it somewhere else, even though it's disappointing.
Also, it's not like we wave a wand and people's issues go away instantly. It takes time. I think you need a lot of patience.
You also need to be really fulfilled in what you're doing. If it's not the right fit, then it can just seem really draining. Those are some of the things I've seen.
Definitely, that passion is so important.
