What skills are most important for a job like yours?
Time management and organization are really important skills, regardless of the role you take on. I certainly find them important in my own position.
Communication is also incredibly important, both internally and externally. This means communicating effectively with prospective clients. It’s vital to be professional, clear, and concise in emails and calls.
It's also crucial to communicate well internally, especially if you work for a remote company. I think it's incredibly important to keep your team updated on projects. This helps identify who can contribute ideas and perspectives.
Communicating ensures everyone has visibility into ongoing projects. Sharing wins and areas where you need support is essential. This fosters a sense of collaboration, even in a remote environment. I believe that's a really important skill.
For my role, or if you're joining a company as one of the first in your position, you might have to figure things out as you go. In such cases, flexibility and patience are incredibly important. Priorities can change, and you'll need to adapt.
Always be ready to be flexible when these changes happen. Remain patient, as sales and partnerships take time. It can be discouraging if you don't see immediate results.
However, if you continue to plant and water the seeds, the results will come. Patience is really important in these situations.
Lastly, I think it's crucial for any sales or partnerships role to become comfortable and proficient with your company's tech stack. This includes tools like Zoom for client meetings, email marketing software for campaigns, or note-taking software for your team.
Becoming proficient with these tools allows you to be more efficient and organized. It's definitely worth spending extra time getting up to speed on them.
