Video Highlights

1. The importance of processes and documentation in startup roles cannot be overstated. Efficient process management saves time and resources by avoiding repeated work and reinventing the wheel.

2. Adaptability is crucial; processes should be iterated on or replaced when they become ineffective. A rigid adherence to outdated processes can hinder success.

3. Documenting processes, even experimental ones, is valuable. Digital platforms allow for easy editing or deletion, but the act of documenting itself improves efficiency and knowledge sharing.

What have you learned about this role that you wish someone had told you before you entered the industry?

I think something I've learned about this role is the importance of processes. I wish someone had told me that before. When I came in, there was a huge learning curve in terms of creating repeatable processes and documenting them.

A lot of times, I would just do things without a clear plan. Then we would have to reinvent the wheel because we hadn't documented how we did it the first time. This led to quite a bit of inefficiency when I first started, and it was something I had to learn over time.

If I were to give advice to someone entering the industry, it would be: make sure you're documenting the things you're doing. Even if it doesn't work, you can always delete the document later. Establishing processes and sticking to the ones that work will make your life a lot easier.

I'm going to put a huge asterisk on that. It is also important to be adaptable. We hear a lot about adaptability in the business world. You need to be aware if a process isn't working anymore, and either improve it or come up with a new one.

In general, process management is extremely important for the success of any business. I wish I had known that when I first started.
