How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?

That's a good question. It's similar to the kind of people you find at UCLA. I think these are students who were really ambitious and didn't settle for second best.

These are students who, even if you're not technically a student, have that approach to getting ahead in school. People who are hardworking, self-starters, very ambitious, and tenacious. They're the kind of people who feel it's never enough.

They're very curious intellectually and constantly looking to learn. They also express humility and are open to being coached and mentored, learning from great minds. There's definitely a degree of teamwork involved, even when you sometimes work in isolation.

Think about your undergraduate experience, perhaps within your classes or cohort, whether it was a chemistry lab or social sciences. Sometimes you're grouped into teams, and I think that teamwork element is important. You also have to be a leader and exhibit leadership attributes.

I would say these attributes include people who exhibit leadership qualities and great critical thinking skills. All of this rolls into the essence of a leader, someone who is a self-starter. They are a team-oriented player.

Someone who is willing to be courageous and confident in raising their hand to offer a solution, even with potential criticism. I think there's a lot of courage involved in stepping into the unknown, especially given market unpredictability.

So, for the most part, those are some of the key attributes for someone to do well in this role or industry.
