What skills are most important for a job like yours?
The most important skills to be at a director level within the agency really boil down to being the best you can be at every level. You need to be learning at every level because there's a career progression and steps you have to take to achieve a senior level position.
This means you have to excel at every level, learn your role, and really dig in and shine in those spaces. Take training to best understand each role.
At my level, I have to focus on team-building skills. I need to consider how I can lead in a virtual environment and ensure I am empowering my staff daily, weekly, quarterly, and annually.
I also take classes to understand how I can be the most impactful strategic thinker with vision. As noted previously, that's one of my key tasks. I have to ensure I'm responsibly leading this division nationwide, and also looking forward, thinking about four and five years from now.
