What are your main responsibilities within your current role?

The main responsibilities I have as the Office of Financial Management Director are to focus on being fiscally responsible for federal agency dollars and any national training initiatives. I have to ensure that taxpayer dollars supporting our nation's veterans are really used in the best way possible.

Any contracts or conference packages must be within budget. Monies are spent in a way that reflects our mission and vision to help our nation's veterans.

Outside of that, I oversee a team nationally and geographically diverse across the country. They all support agency training initiatives, both virtual and in person.

Another significant part of my role is forecasting a vision and strategic planning for the agency. This is to ensure that not only today, but also in the future, we are targeting the needs of our internal customers who process veteran awards and those monies, as well as ultimately our nation's veterans.

We are doing things in a responsible way, so I always have to be thinking with an eye towards the future, as well as being mindful of what's going on currently.
