What does a day in the life of an Office of Financial Management training director look like?

My day really begins with coffee. After coffee, it's all about flexibility, truly in supporting national agency opportunities and all the initiatives going on.

When I log in, I work virtually from Denver, Colorado. I see a lot of emails and taskings coming down from Washington D.C. So I have to be very flexible because as I thought my day would start, potentially my day is not going to start in that way.

It is very much concentrated on calls, emails, and what is the highest priority of the moment that I need to address. Thereafter, I'm looking at scheduled meetings and where we are to meet our short-term goals. I also consider what direction my leadership team needs to hear from me.

I also have an eye on hiring. I need to be constantly looking at what opportunities there are to grow my division and where I am against the vacancies that I have. I have tremendous experience with reviewing resumes, looking at the best-qualified candidates, and conducting interviews, as well as sitting on panels. So I am currently looking at that quite a bit. I have almost 30 years of working in that arena.

So that's right now what a day in the life looks like.
