What did you do in undergrad to set you up for success in your career?
I would say I did a lot of research. It was not fun having to do research, dissertation surveys, analysis of results, and interviewing people. That wasn't fun at all.
But looking back, I really appreciate it because I now have a perspective. If I don't have information, I know how to go about researching. It has taught me that research never ends.
Whether you are in school, graduate school, or undergrad, you should always be keen to learn. Look for what's trending, what is new, and how we can implement that in our organization.
Having that foundation to know how to do research, conduct a survey, derive data, and do an analysis is something that set me up for success. In my job, I use this a lot. I have a critical eye to things.
Before I say yes to a project, I need to know how it will impact us and if there is data to validate the information we are looking for. So, I would say research had set me up for success whilst I was in college, and now I get to use it in the real world.
