What does a day in the life of your role look like?

The day can vary. It usually starts with a morning greeting for students and families at the gate. I then transition to what we call Morning Circle.

This can be either with the whole school in our blacktop area or with smaller groups of students, walking them into their classrooms for Morning Circle. After the students are settled, it might start with an admin team huddle.

During the huddle, we get together to go over the outcomes for the day, any special announcements, or areas of support from team members. After that, it's a slew of either meetings, responding to emails, walking the campus, or looking into classrooms.

I also work with different staff members on projects they are working on. It usually then transitions to lunchtime, where we do supervision.

This can be in the cafeteria or outside with the students during recess. The afternoon will consist of the same as the morning: walking the campus, meetings, or correspondence via email.

At the end of the day, I usually have an opportunity to check in with team members, meet with families, or engage in conversations regarding external members of the community. I serve on a variety of different boards and/or community partner committees.

So, there may be meetings or activities that I need to do to represent our school and the work that we do in the Oakland community.
